SAPB Honored at Africa’s Biggest Beer Competition
We are thrilled to announce that ROX, our Swiss Premium Pils, has been awarded the Bronze Medal at the African Beer Cup 2025, held in Cape Town, South Africa. This is one of the most prestigious beer competitions on the continent, and we are proud to be the first brewery in Cameroon to participate and be recognized at this level.
The competition brought together more than 260 beers from 14 African countries, judged by an international panel of qualified beer experts. Every beer is judged twice by two different panels to ensure fairness and objectivity, making this recognition all the more meaningful.
Why ROX Stands Out
ROX was awarded in the “Pale Bitter European Beer” category commonly known as the Pilsner or Lager. This recognition is a validation of our commitment to brewing excellence, authenticity, and quality.
What sets ROX apart is its adherence to the German Purity Law of 1516 (Reinheitsgebot). Brewed with only three natural ingredients: malt, hops and yeast; ROX reflects our commitment to quality. From the very beginning, our goal was to craft a true Pilsner, using traditional brewing methods right here in Douala, Cameroon.
In just nine months of existence, our microbrewery has earned a place on the continental stage. This is not just a medal, it’s a moment of pride for the entire SAPB team and for Cameroonian brewing as a whole.

About the African Beer Cup
The African Beer Cup is the largest and most respected beer competition on the continent. Organized annually during BeerEx Africa, it highlights the best of African brewing across a wide range of styles. Beers are judged according to the 2021 BJCP guidelines, ensuring a professional and consistent evaluation process.
With entries from breweries across Africa, from craft microbreweries to large-scale producers, the competition celebrates innovation, quality, and diversity in African brewing.
